Two of Australian Country Music’s most applauded performers, Darren Coggan & Genni Kane, unite in an uplifting celebration of love and life with a cracking new single release, ‘First Light’. The spirited song also featuring Australia’s finest Bluegrass pickers; Kym Warner on Mandolin, Ian Simpson on Banjo & Peter Denahy on Fiddle.

At its core, ‘First Light’ is more than a song. It’s a reminder, deeply human and quietly profound, an exploration of gratitude, hope and resilience, finding peace in the balance between letting go of the past and embracing the present moment with love and grace.

Lending her beautiful voice to this song, is Australian music royalty, Genni Kane. Genni Kane first found her feet as a songwriter and lead vocalist with the legendary 80’s band Flying Emus.

“I was so thrilled when Darren invited me to sing on his beautiful song, ‘First Light’”, says Genni. “We have known each other from a distance in the country music scene, but this is the first chance we have had to really connect and work together closely on a project. It’s a rollicking tune with the best pickers in the country, it was particularly great to be reunited with my dear friend and fellow Flying Emu’s band mate, Ian Simpson on this song, lots of great memories came flooding back as I heard his signature Banjo playing come rolling through the speakers.”

“I have been a massive fan of the great Australian band ‘Flying Emus’ since I was a teenager, in fact I was in a bluegrass band at high school called ‘Miss Piggy’ and we covered loads of the ‘Emus’ tunes, ‘Auctioneer’, ‘I Don’t Know About That’, ‘Different Drum’, ‘It’s A Sunburnt Country’, so to have two of the original members of that band join me on this new song, along with undoubtedly one of the finest mandolin players in the world in Kym Warner and my great mate and superb artist in his own right, Peter Denahy on Fiddle, is completely surreal, a career highlight for sure.” Reflects Darren.

Darren’s last single release, ‘Always Believe In Love’, was warmly embraced by radio, hitting the number one position on the AMPRAP Country/Blues & Roots charts. In the wake of that success, Darren continues to do what he’s always done best; connect, and his new offering, ‘First Light’, will no doubt shine its own warmth across the airwaves and into the hearts of country music fans alike.
