Leaving home
Her wings are dusted off and dried
To fly alone
Her father waves goodbye
A Daddy's princess all grown up
He tries not to cry
This is something she's been wanting to do
She's been dreaming it for years
Worked her fingers to the bone
It's been a drudge, been a drone
Now freedom calls let live as freedom lives
Ride that ship and sail out 'cross the ocean,
Spread your wings and fly to Southern skies
Turn a key and ride that endless highway
For a home is where the heart will choose to be
You can't ever tame the spirit of the free
Postcards in the mail
She's found some friends she knew from school
They're on their way
So glad to leave old England behind
Those gloomy castles left standing in the rain
This is something they've been wanting to do
They've been planning it for years
With swags upon their backs
They'll pick fruit or maybe pack
Can't wait to taste the sun, surf and beer
In a little town
Where the locals know their names
They come and they go all year
Taken under wing
They bring a restless energy
that earns a welcome smile
Their colourful voices, they ring up and down the streets
They're the lifeblood of this town
But sirens chill the air across the princess sitting there
As flames from the palace burn all night
