Well the curtain has come down here tonight in Boonah on what has been a wonderful ‘tour of duty’ throughout 2012. This ‘War Stories’ regional tour has been a big chapter in my career, and a personal goal that I am pleased to have fulfilled. I would like to take this opportunity to thank a few people who have shared the journey with me and made it all the more enjoyable.
Firstly to my production manager, Dean Stephens, who has traveled every kilometer with me, from Burnie in Tassie to Mt Isa in Queensland, Bunbury in WA to Sydney, I’ve really enjoyed your company mate and appreciate all your hard work in getting this show up on stage each night and making it look so good.
To Kashi Cannings my associate producer, it was lovely to see you here in Boonah for our final show. Your belief in this project from the very beginning has inspired me to continue through the times that I thought it wouldn’t happen, I treasure your friendship.
To all of the incredible ladies at NSW Arts On Tour, Penny, Heather, Shireen, Emma, Andy and Kate. Thanks for co-ordinating this tour and for making our time on the road so comfortable and enjoyable. I’m looking forward to the possibility of re-mounting Peace Train with you all in 2014 – more postcards to come!
Finally to my beautiful bride and children who have kept the home fires burning whilst I’ve been away, I miss you everyday and love you all so much, I’m looking forward to coming home to you.
We’ve seen a lot of great places across Australia, performed in some beautiful theatres, caught up with some good mates and met a lot of new friends along the way. It has been a privilege to share these inspiring songs and stories with our audience and to reflect upon what is such a big part of who we are as a nation today. To all of the proud Australians who have worn the slouch hat over the years, I salute your courage and spirit, the spirit of ANZAC – Lest We Forget.
